Family Leporidae. Hares are distributed throughout the world. They weigh from about 1 to 5 kg, reach a length of about 30-60 cm; they usually feed at night, mainly grasses, tree bark and vegetables. They live in regions with loose and dry soil where shrubs offer shelter. It bears from 4 to 8 litters per year, from 3 to 8 cubs, and the gestation period lasts about a month. The life span is up to 10 years.
