A horse family. Found all over the world. Male and female horses (stallions and mares) reach sexual maturity at 2 years of age. The gestation period is about 11 months and single births are the rule. It feeds on grass and other plant material. The most noticeable anatomical characteristic of the modern horse is the presence of only one toe on each of its 4 legs.
