The guinea pig belongs to the Caviidae family. Rodents with short, rounded ears and no tails. They have small, stout bodies, 20 to 40 cm long. Hair in some species is long and varies in texture from coarse to smooth. Lives in South America. Some are native to the higher ranges of the Andes and Peru, and their diet consists of vegetation. Most guinea pigs breed once a year.
