The flipper dolphin belongs to the suborder Odontoceti of the cetacean order. Examples include the bottle-nosed dolphin, a popular performer in marine aquariums. It can be 4 meters long. Adult dolphins reach sexual maturity in 5-12 years for females and 9-13 years for males. Mates in spring; after a gestation period of 11-12 months, one dolphin is born. It feeds mainly on fish and squid, equal to 1/3 of their weight.
