Suborder Odontoceti of cetaceans. Examples include the bottle-nosed dolphin, a popular inhabitant of marine aquariums. Reaches a length of 4 meters. Adult bottlenose dolphins reach sexual maturity in 5-12 years, females in 9-13 years. They mate in spring; after a gestation period of 11-12 months, one dolphin is born. They feed mainly on fish and squid, equal to almost 1/3 of their weight.
