There are about 250 species of turtles, grouped into nine families. Found only in temperate or tropical regions. Most of them are adapted to freshwater or terrestrial habitats, a small group is adapted to marine life. Turtles are carnivores or herbivores. All species lay eggs that are buried in burrows. As a rule, live long; some species are over 100 years old.  

Turtles are a detachment of reptiles that appeared 250 million years ago. It eats a wide variety of foods - plants, small fish, etc. The shells protect the turtle's body from damage. There are over 230 species. In particular, the red-eared turtle is so large that it disrupts the ecosystem.
